Joy Bremner (President)

Joy Bremner is Cree Métis born in Prince Albert Saskatchewan, of Cree descent from the Red River Settlement, has lived throughout her life across much of Canada from Bear Creek in the Yukon, Sooke on Vancouver Island and in numerous towns and cities across the prairies all the way east to Ottawa. Joy is currently in her eighth consecutive term as President of the Mid Island Métis Nation, she held a position on the board of the MIMN in the mid nineties and sat as a representative on the Aboriginal Education Committee in the Nanaimo Ladysmith Public Schools at that time, and has again from 2013-present – now called Leaders for Learning. Joy holds positions on local, regional and provincial governance assembly/councils with the Métis Nation of British Columbia. A strong commitment to improving and supporting healthy success is an integral part of her commitment to the health & growth of children, families and the Métis Community.
